What happens if the dancer misses a class?

If a dancer misses a class he/she is entitled to a makeup lesson with a different group. Makeup lessons should be booked in advance, preferably via email. We limit the number of makeup lessons to 2 per dancer per term. A makeup lesson must be attended within the same term as the missed class, Makeup lessons cannot be carried forward from term to term. There is no refund for missed classes.
Frequently asked questions
What are the terms and conditions of a free trial class?
New dancers are entitled to a free trial class in their chosen dance style. Trial classes need to be booked in advance. If a new dancer doesn't turn up for his/her trial lesson without informing us in advance his/her place will be automatically forfeited. After the trial class the dancer's parent should contact us via phone or email to let us know whether the dancer would like to enroll for the class or not. The place of the new dancer will be kept for 24 hours after the trial. If the parent neglects to contact us the dancer's place will be automatically forfeited.
What does the dancer need to wear to a trial class?
Don't buy anything special for a trial class. The dancer may wear comfortable clothes such as leggings, t-shirt and socks. If she/he would like to enroll we recommend purchasing the class uniform from the local dance shop.
Why is it important to participate in a ballet class twice a week? (From the age 8 and up)
Learning classical ballet is like learning a new language. It is no secret that classical ballet provides many benefits: gaining good posture, strength, flexibly, self discipline and coordination to name just a few. But like everything in life (well, almost everything) you have to work hard to achieve it. Attending ballet class twice a week is recommended in order to teach the body this beautiful but complicated art form and to achieve good results that will reward you for life. We know that not everyone can commit to two ballet classes per week and that's why we also offer the option of one class per week.
May the parents observe the class?
We have decided to run the classes without the parents observing as we have found that children get very distracted and are not able to concentrate in class. We conduct open classes at the end of terms one and two where the parents are welcome to observe the lesson. Parents of new dancers who are participating in a trial class are welcome to observe the lesson and meet the teacher. If the dancer is very young and and needs a parent there at the start, that's also fine with us.
Why is it recommended to participate in a ballet class if the dancer is interested in Jazz/ Acrobatics/ Contemporary dance?
Classical ballet forms the basis for all other dance styles. It will help the dancer maintain and improve technique, posture, coordination, body awareness, musicality and more. Ballet helps to improve strength, flexibility, turns, jumps etc. With a ballet background other dance styles will look cleaner and more polished and the dancer will become stronger and more well-rounded.
Do you have an end of the year concert?
Yes. All children from the level of Creative Movement level 2 and up participate in the concert on a professional stage at the end of the year. Participating in a concert is not compulsory but it is a fun experience for the children and something to look forward to. It showcases their talent and love of dance in a professional environment. There is an extra charge for the concert day as well as the costume hire but we try to keep parents' expenses to a minimum. The youngest dancers who participate in the Creative Movement level 1 class have a "mini concert" at the studio at the end of the year.
What are the Studio rules?
Observing the class
During regular classes the dancers and their teacher are the only ones permitted in the studio.
Parents are not permitted to stay during the class unless it's a trial class or open class.
Food and Drink
No food is allowed inside the studio waiting room or changing room.
Chewing gum is strictly prohibited in all dance classes.
Refunds and Fees
All fees are to be paid in full by term in advance. This will secure the dancer's place in class.
An administration fee of $15 will be charged for late payment of fees of up to two weeks after the due date.
If fees are not paid within 3 weeks after the due date the dancer will not be permitted to participate in the class.
